Story of the day.....

As you may know with kids life is never dull.  Where I am at in my life now is I have older kids and still younger kids and I find sometimes they don't always mix real good.  But for sure create some entertaining moments.  With that in mind I decided to reflect on these moments and jot them down in this blog for safekeeping.  Something's you just don't want to forget!  So when something's just not your typical kind of day or just a little out of the ordinary I am going to try and rembember to create a Story of the day post!!!

😎 STORY OF THE DAY😎

For anyone who knows me I am always crossing over.  No not to the dark side.... I mean I am a mother, cleaning lady, chef, baker, secretary, wife, etc and also I am the parts girl, the fuel girl- I think you get my drift!
So I have to go into town and get fuel and parts and take the truck and a big fuel tank.  I am older and still a little heavy I decided I am going to take Noah and Alaska.  Noah is 8 and he can jump up on the truck and hold the handle while its pumping fuel.  We go get the 20 sheets of OSB (plywood) get that loaded, get all the glue, nails, etc....grab Chew ( another one of my daily routines ) and head to get the fuel.  Noah helps and of coarse he has been in the nest with Mama a little to long.  I tell him "the diesel is about to be done- be paying attention, so you don't overfill it and get diesel everywhere."   Well for anyone who is not a multi-tasker and hasn't pumped fuel before for some reason when the fuel fills and you go to pull the pump out- you keep pressing the handle. That is exactly what Noah does hence diesel is getting everywhere.  Of Coarse I yell and say" Noah, pay attention."  The look on his face is beyond explaining...partly Oh shit I'm going get in trouble and half probably thinking its funny.  Needless to say we get back in the truck and start to head home.  All tasks complete..  I tell Noah "please keep looking out the window and make sure none of the fuel spills out and onto Ryans plywood."   We had to fill 5 gas jugs also.  So we start going he is looking and saying "Yah Mom its good nothing is spilling."
So Noah is at the age where he loves writing his name everywhere and on anything.  I decide this is a great opportunity to give him a life lesson about you don't have to put your name on everything.  Not all over the log house or etching his name in Ryan's truck with a knife. ( I am sure any Mom  of a boy who just get a knife can relate.)   As I look out of the corner of my eye I see him and Alaska playing with a balloon, like one of those surgical gloves you blow up and I don't really think anything of it, I just chuckle to myself..  We continue to do this same routine all the way home, asking him to check to see if the fuel is spilling..
We get home I get out head into the shop to reveal I have accomplished EVERYTHING the guys have asked of me!  Success!!   I head back to the truck to get one of my presents I had picked up for Tanis for her Birthday a few days away and when I go to grab it I am MORTIFIED there sits a rubber (used) right on the floor board.  INSTANTLY I flare up and start thinking  I am going to kill DAX (my 18 year old son.)  His dirty clothes had been in there and he has a girlfriend and had borrowed the truck- so you can only imagine where my mind is going.   I am thinking of how I am going to give a life lesson to my 18 year old son... and out of the corner of my eye I see the ripped package remains....
I grab the rubber barely picking it up and thank goodness it is a super windy day and sent that little dude flying away...
I turn to head into the house and right when I get around the truck I see Noah coming out of the house and right then it hits me....I start laughing super hard and am super relieved.  Noah the "Mess in everything kid"  had gotten into Dax's stuff,  took out the rubber, blew it up and him and Alaska were playing with it!!  We got home he let the air out and the rubber landed on the floor board.  I think the life lesson for me in this is Mary remember nothing is ever what it seems!!

Hello....are you there....Where have you been... BUSY with Llfe!!!

So my last post is a LONG time ago.  I just felt like getting back in the groove- spending a couple moments to reflect...a little Mary time..not sure what will come out of all of this but super excited to try.
I opened a Airbnb in Alamosa Colorado and I can tell you it has been a Highlight in my life...
Have hosted a lot of super awesome guest and some a little "off".  40 Winks Inn Alamosa.  I thought it was super clever and super catchy.  I opened it in June and it has been really doing good!  The lady that I am working with is a prize!  I have my daughters helping me and it has been so fun.  I remember the first days we were doing the Inn and my daughter said "This is more like girl work-I love it! (she was used to logging and firewood).
I have became a Grammy-so in Love with my Lil' Diesel.  I think he is probably the cutest kid I have ever seen.
